DRD3 October test beam discussion on Minicactus DAQ
Action list
Ivan: Coordinate with other groups on the updated schedule with the additional 2 weeks.
Ivan: Schedule another meeting to discuss the overall shift schedule with other groups.
Ivan: Coordinate the cold box setup schedule.
Stefano: Confirm availability for the first week, plus potentially two additional days.
Kim/Stefano: Test the MSO646B oscilloscope with the producer to verify compatibility.
Ivan: Arrange the transfer of the 6B oscilloscope from UZH (Vagelis) without going through the pool.
Team: Test if the EUDAQ producer works with the MSO642B and MSO646B oscilloscopes during the first day of setup.
Team: Set up the trigger sharing between the two oscilloscopes and configure the busy signal generation for the TLU.
Stefano: Confirm the exact number of events/triggers that can be stored in the oscilloscope before data dump is required.
Jordi: Configure the C-ROC pixel detector for region of interest triggering that covers both teams' devices.
Discussion on DAQ
Stefano explained how oscilloscopes can be configured to capture a predetermined number of triggers before dumping data, with the oscilloscopes able to save data at the speed of collection without missing any triggers. The discussion revealed that the oscilloscopes have a memory capacity of approximately 50K events, though the exact number and specific details about the depth time between triggers remained unclear. The oscilloscopes can dump data to a PC within 10 seconds, with the telescope's dead time of 300 microseconds being the limiting factor for data collection rate.
While more efficient scripting could be developed, the current approach is acceptable given the minimal impact on overall performance. The team determined that using one pulse generator and sharing the busy signal across channels would be sufficient for their needs.
Equipment Rental Planning
The team discussed equipment rental plans, focusing on oscilloscopes and time reference devices. They agreed to rent both 2B and 6B oscilloscopes through DRD3.
Ivan requested Stefano to prepare a list of equipment needed to be rented through DRD3, including both low and high voltage components.
The group also discussed mechanical holdings, considering the use of XY tables, and decided to clarify which tables would be available for the test.
Team planned to finalize the calendar and equipment list by next week.
