Description
Standard sensitivity estimates for far-forward mCP searches at the LHC focus exclusively on production at the interaction point. We show that the forward LHC particle absorber acts as a significant secondary source: energetic forward neutrons and photons initiate hadronic and electromagnetic showers that generate an additional mCP flux. Using Monte Carlo simulations interfaced with Geant4, we find that this contribution enhances the expected signal yield at FORMOSA by 50–60% for mCP masses below 0.1 GeV, exceeding current theoretical uncertainties. In this poster, I show that secondary production in downstream infrastructure is therefore a critical ingredient for realistic HL-LHC sensitivity projections.
