Description
The recent search at the CMS experiment for Long-Lived Charged Particles in the low beta region is presented. The search utilizes the capabilities introduced by the deployment of the CMS Level-1 Data Scouting System in Run 3, which allows for the collection of muon barrel system information from consecutive bunch crossings, without the application of any triggers. This novel approach exhibits high sensitivity in the $\beta<0.5$ region of phase-space, which is practically inaccessible to conventional dE/dx searches, due to limitations introduced by triggering.
The results obtained with 2024 CMS data from proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13.6 \; TeV$ and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3.7 \; fb^{-1}$ are presented in this talk. They are interpreted in terms of cross-section limits to several theoretical models giving rise to Heavy Stable Charged Particles. In addition, the ongoing effort to extend the analysis to the full Run 3 L1 scouting dataset is described, along with perspectives for the High-Luminosity LHC.
