Update from N.Peray:
ENDPLATE:
- The chosen option for the rod has been integrated in the model. 40 mm diameter rod with M42 thread
- This requires shifting the hole position as already seen.
- Minimum threaded length computed
- The required shift can be minimized using custom components (Slide 5)
- For this custom design, the minimum thickness of material is today 2 mm
- Action item: Move it further by 2 mm to gain 2 mm in radius all over the hole in the endplate minimum thickness (in any case we showed in the past that even 7 mm shift was not an issue)
YOKE-SHELL:
- Yoke and shell:
- Flat surface added on top of the yoke for easier assembly (introduction inside the shell)
- Tolerances need to be updated in such a way that accounting for tolerances, the maximum of the yoke is always less or equal than the minimum of the shell.
DUMMY COIL:
- Real ground insulation layers will not be used in the dummy assembly. Just one kapton layer wrapping the coil.
- Action item: Check 2D ANSYS and define the Aluminum allow required
- Pole instrumentation shall be included (strain measurements as in the real coil)
ENDPLATE APERTURE:
- Diameter of the aperture in the end-plate?
- We must find a way to make it co-axial with the magnet aperture
- We should make it a bit bigger (52 , 54 mm)
- Add threaded holes to fit an interface piece that fits the magnetic shaft with the aperture through the loading plate
UPDATE ON MOCK-UPS:
- Nico got the poles and the plates back from the main workshop
- Winding of the mock-up tomorrow
- Gaps to be introduced:
- 4 mm for pole gap
- 8 mm for tooling gap
- By the end of this week, the mock-up must be in B.112
- RHT cycle to be launched on Friday ideally
SIMULATIONS TO DO:
- Final endplate workbench simulation
- ANSYS simulation of the dummy coil case (2D and 3D ideally)
- Check E-RMC aluminum dummy case (Jose)
