9th Injection Region Design Meeting
CERN
Present: Patric, Daniel, Justin, Marlene, Tobias, Michele
Discussion & Updates:
-
Facility CAD Model needed by GWA
-
Area to be included in the model was discussed. Action: Marlene to clarify with Fred. Model should include the beamline and racks ±2 m upstream and downstream of the vapor source.
-
-
Funding & Budget
-
MPP has discussed funding. Next Step / Action: GWA to provide budget estimates for this year and next.
-
-
Horizontal Angling of Upstream Vapor Source (0.1 mrad)
-
Next Step / Action: Jim to add the angle to the CAD drawing and evaluate how it can be realized.
-
General consensus: implementing the angle should be possible.
-
Action: Marlene & Patric to discuss with the Survey and Alignment team.
-
Action: GWA to define flange tolerances.
-
-
Humidity Question (Alejandro)
-
Dew point <12 °C is considered sufficient.
-
Action: Marlene to respond to Alejandro (EN-CV).
-
-
2/3-Way Valve to Save Cooling Water
-
Action: GWA to contact chiller company to assess ease of valve replacement.
-
Action: Marlene to check with Alejandro if reducing chiller flow could avoid changing components.
-
Update: Feedback on chiller positions received; integration team is reviewing options for shorter lines.
-
-
Washing of Valves
-
Previously washed only in one position; residual Rubidium oxide remains.
-
Action: To be washed again; need to identify a suitable location. Possibly check with Marc Thiebert.
-
-
Cabling Campaign
-
Answers to Tobias’ questions:
-
Cabling the plasma source separately is sensible.
-
Access will mostly not be restricted during plasma source commissioning.
-
No significant risk of delay currently.
-
Action: Tobias to check if plasma source cabling can be included in the first campaign or at the start of the second to benefit commissioning time in 2028.
-
