Flying to Stockholm:
The Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) airport offers about 150 destinations worldwide. It is located 40 km north of the city centre. Another smaller airport, the Stockholm Bromma (BMA) airport, is located only 7 km northwest of central Stockholm, however it can only be used by smaller airplanes, hence it is far less convenient. It is NOT recommended to fly to/from the Skavsta (NYO) and Västerås (VST) airports, which are mostly deserved by low-cost airlines and much further away from Stockholm, with complicated bus connections.
Buses and trains run frequently directly from the ARN airport to central Stockholm. The fastest way to get to Stockholm is with the Arlanda Express (18 minutes) but it is expensive! Commuter trains (SL) and regular trains (SJ) leave from Arlanda C (in the Sky City terminal) to Stockholm C, and the cost for a transfer is about 20 EUR per person for a travel time of 20-40 minutes depending on the type of train you choose. Ask the staff at Arlanda C for help. Buses leave regularly from outside terminal 4 and different companies, for instance Flygbussarna and FlixBus, can bring you to central Stockholm within 40-50 minutes for up to 15 EUR. Taxis are also available at the airport, for approximately 60 EUR. It is recommended to book in advance to avoid scams.
More information about all ways of transportation to/from ARN can be found here.
Furthermore, Stockholm is the destination for long-distance high-speed trains. For instance, coming from Copenhagen, Stockholm can be reached within about 5-6 hours by train.
Venue:
The 3rd COMETA General Meeting is organised in collaboration with the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (KVA), which is located in the Frescati area in northern Stockholm, near the Swedish Museum of Natural History and Stockholm University.
KVA is easily accessible by public transportation. More information can be found here.
- Subway: take the red line 14 towards Mörby Centrum (not the red line towards Ropsten!) and get off at the station "Universitetet".
- Several bus routes, including bus 50 and 540, stop near KVA, get off at the bus stop "Universitetet norra".
- Local commuter train Roslagsbanan: lines 27 and 28 from "Östra station", get off at the station "Universitetet".
Accommodation:
There are many hotels in Stockholm, pick your favorite website to choose one... but do so well in advance. The Stockholm Marathon will take place on the week-end before the General Meeting, so availability might be limited. We recommend to find a hotel close to the red subway line (e.g. near the stations Gamla Stan, T-centralen or Östermalmstorg) or the bus line 50 for convenience.
