She thanked ACCU, current and previous members for all the work. The users are essential to CERN and ACCU an important forum, ACCU thanked Fabiola for all her work and dedication as DG
LHC: Proton run was excellent and ion run going very well
HL-LHC: Current problems are critical (chip issues) needs to be understood fast, production of new chips are on fast track - highest commitment from CERN, can not say now if there will be delays for HL-LHC
Future: Overwhelming support for FCC-ee followed by FCC-hh as preferred option, prioritised list of alternatives.
State of CERN: CERN has increased attractiveness, new members joining, Slovenia last in June and Ireland will join as associate member state later, Chile started their process. Other international organisations are suffering, until now not the case for CERN, strong support for CERN from member countries so far.
Q: Life of users gotten more difficult. Answer: CERN staff have the duty of the service of the community to help and support the users, if this is not clear it has to be reminded. The day the user community does not come, CERN can close its doors.
Q: Environmental report. Answer: Environment crucial goal since 2016, we are supported by public money and need to explain the impact to the environment. The report is ambitious but realistic.
Q: FCC. Answer: Output from the collaboration will also be a plan B. Question: Will there be a feasibility study for plan B as well. Answer: 10 million for the alternative collider after ESG report, as soon as plan B is approved more funding will be available. Need to be realistic, doing a full feasibility study for plan B will not be possible. First priority will be HL-LHC, which needs to be successful.SCE department report
