      PIONEER, a precision experiment 45m

PIONEER is a next-generation rare pion decay experiment designed to address existing tensions between experimental measurements and Standard Model predictions. By measuring rare pion decay branching ratios with unprecedented precision, PIONEER aims to provide critical tests of fundamental symmetries in particle physics. In particular, the experiment will probe potential violations of lepton flavor universality and investigate the unitarity of the CKM matrix through precise studies of charged pion decays. These measurements offer a sensitive window into possible physics beyond the Standard Model. This talk will outline the physics motivation for PIONEER, describe the experimental design and methodology, and present the current status and future prospects of the experiment.
