Future collider concepts based on wakefield acceleration hinge on phase-space quality and efficiency: wall-plug power, emittance preservation, and robust diagnostics. I will present my work on analytical wakefield theory, stability and mitigation in planar wakefield structures, and single-shot wakefield diagnostics. I will highlight the experimental discovery of the skew-wake effect for a flat beams and discuss mitigation routes including dual-driver injection. I will then connect these classical phase-space themes to coherent structured (twisted) beams, describing accelerator-compatible transport theory and how wavefront geometry may leads to distinctive QED radiation channels.
