Description

The Challenge

Developing countries face unique challenges in responding to the increasing frequency and severity of natural and climate-related disasters. At the same time, these challenges present opportunities for innovative, affordable, and scalable solutions in sustainable technologies, disaster preparedness, and resilience.

Workshop Goals

Building on the success of the event held in collaboration with Osaka University under the umbrella of the 2025 World Expo, the IEEE Future Directions SusTechInnovation, Engagement and Collaboration Committee (SusTech-IEC), IEEE NPS Society, United People Global, CERN IdeaSquare, and partner organizations, are convening in Geneva to identify critical technological, organizational, and societal gaps where sustainable technologies can deliver meaningful impact.

The workshop will bring together representatives from IEEE Societies and Councils, academia, industry, governmental agencies, NGOs, and international organizations to discuss emerging solutions, establish new collaborations, and accelerate progress in addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges. The focus will be on developing practical, affordable, inclusive, and sustainable approaches that enhance clean energy access, climate resilience, disaster modelling and mitigation, and community preparedness.

IEEE Workshop hosted by IEEE NPSS, IEEE SusTech-IEC, IdeaSquare at CERN and United People Global
