Description
Preliminary results of the study of ultraperipheral (gamma gamma and \gpom) interactions are presented. The analysis was performed with the data recorded by the ATLAS experiment during the LHC Pb-Pb run in 2011. The data, taken at the beam energy of 2.76 TeV per nucleon, correspond to an integrat luminosity of 152 micro b-1. Muon pairs, produced in pure electromagnetic two-photon interactions and in reactions of J/psi photoproduction, were analysed. A preliminary cross section for the AA to AA plus mu mu reactio has been determined from these studies.
