Introduction
Details on various Chapters.
Chapter #1:
-
CMS plots are already publicly available,
-
ATLAS: tentative date by June LHCC, it might be possible to have the plots for CHEP26
Chapter #2 and #5:
-
Discussed the HEPiX organization, and main goals
-
Anyone volunteering for the OTF#7 Heterogeneous Architecture meeting in HEPiX is welcome.
-
From Pepe: a draft has now started, in the common folder.
-
About the HEPiX session, Pepe can chair and can also volunteer (as last resort). Remote connection will be possible. ⇒ TCB members are encouraged to propose names
Chapter #7:
-
WLCG services, focus of OTF#9 March 24 and 25
Chapter #9:
-
We need to reach out to the WLCG Sustainability wg group.
Chapter #6:
-
Tokens: it has an already existing draft, 7 pages. Maarten will review it, slightly shrink it down, but it is a solid draft already.
Questions for TCB
-
How to proceed with synthesizing the draft
-
Track progress:
-
Maarten proposed we need a couple of checkpoints per year, with official documents, to report about the evolution of the status.
-
Latchezar pointed out that we need to have the “validity” of the document, could it be the start of Run4. Document might need several updates
-
Risk and mitigation will be in each chapters
-
Maarten mentioned also that there might be the need of “scenarios” (planB) if things do not happen.
TDR Timeline
ATLAS pointed out that it is complex having the same experts working on both the ATLAS TDR and the WLCG Technical Roadmap. It was mentioned that both the ATLAS TDR and the WLCG Technical Roadmap will be reviewed by LHCC in ~ November, thus we need to do as we can. It might be that by CHEP we will have to mention that for some of the chapters we have concrete ideas, but we need still some input and alignment.
Chapter 5 - Workflow Management - Marco Mascheroni
Q&A:
-
Relationship with Job Allocations and Handling TF: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1595858/#5-extension-of-the-mandate-of
-
Maarten: also this chapter will aim at ~5pages. Sustainability should also be included, a few sentences.
-
AndrewMelo: the way in which we schedule resources is important.
-
Maarten mentioned that K8s is great, but we are a very variegated community, not many sites will move now. WLCG WM systems need to be able to connect to such systems, though we are not asking sites to change, clearly not.
-
Federico Stagni asks about connections between WM and information systems (Ch. 7). This could be discussed in OTF#9 in March. Panos is not here today.
-
Some of the milestones will be answers to open questions we have today. Scheduling a decision point in the future is a valid milestone.
-
Latchezar: the focus could be the different access to the different kinds of resources.
Next meeting in 4-5 weeks. At the next meeting, should we have more advanced drafts? Ready for reading? Please communicate with Ale and James directly in the next weeks as drafts are ready.
Meeting time: 1h14
