      The ATLAS Level-1 Central Trigger (L1CT) development labs have a complex infrastructure of custom electronic modules, based on System-on-Chip (SoC) and System-on-Module (SoM) devices. To ensure reliable operation and simplify troubleshooting, a comprehensive observability framework based on the Prometheus and Grafana ecosystem has been implemented. This system is based on the Prometheus node exporter for operating system metrics and a custom exporter to collect hardware-level metrics. It uses Grafana for real-time visualization and automated alerting.
      Beyond the implementation specific to the requirements of the L1CT labs, the concept of observability provides a structured approach for other electronics groups to monitor system health and identify performance bottlenecks. By adopting software-industry standards laboratories can improve the maintenance and reliability of diverse hardware environments. This presentation serves as both a case study and a motivation for using observability tools in electronic systems engineering.
