Description

We present the latest developments of a cylindrical triple-GEM Time Projection Chamber (TPC) instrumented with a quad Timepix3 pixel readout, developed within the framework of DRD1 activities at CERN. The system combines GEM-based gas amplification with a multi-chip pixelated readout, targeting high-granularity measurements for precise three-dimensional tracking. The detector features a cylindrical geometry with a 20 cm diameter and 12 cm drift length, coupled to a Timepix3 quad module providing fine spatial resolution. It is operated with an Ar/CO$_{2}$ (70%/30%) gas mixture and equipped with dedicated readout and data acquisition systems. Measurements are performed in a test beam environment with muon and pion beams, with an external Timepix3 tracking telescope used for alignment and reference studies.

Data collected during the DRD1 test beam campaign in May 2026 are currently under analysis, with initial studies focusing on the overall detector response and performance. The presentation will include preliminary observations from these measurements, highlighting the potential of pixel-based readout for future gaseous tracking detectors, complemented by some highlights from our local GEMPix4 prototype.
