Machine related activities in the experimental hall 10mSpeakers: Erwin Siesling (CERN), Simon Mataguez (CERN)
Platform EPC:
- Connections existing HT cable bundles into the racks continues.
- This week: in parallel installation of the AC cabling and distribution on top of the racks: No need for crane consignation (discussed in detail with Patrick Gallay & contractor). The contractors work from between the racks. (this would have clashed otherwise with the dismounting of the green ISCOOL HT cage).
- Hight of the racks incl. AC distribution - integrated. 300 - 500mm marge under crane beam (Vincent)? Zonage for the overhead crane to be verified (Filippo).
- Modification of false floor: to be done whe scaffolding is gone and cable work in the area has finished. Finding best solution with Oscar.
- Modification passage floor (new beams and metal floor) to be installed at the end of cable campaign.
Fiber installation work:
- fiber duct installation ongoing (31 March) (Nenad Simic & contractor) along the Saleve wall and above GPS bunker. In coordination with green cage removal. VIC done.
- needs to be done now with the removal of the RILIS barrack and access difficulties for the coming months in that area. Final installation will be done on the box side (RF room wall) and below the GPS bunker at a later point + blowing through the fibers themselves.
REX/HIE ISOLDE preparations CM1 transport:
- Thursday 26 March: The intertank sectors XLN02 & 03 were dismounted, stored in a palette box/grid and moved onto the tunnel roof.
- Complex handling methode: Experience, preparation and procedure important.
- CM1 Radiological aspects (mainly for the work in SM18): List of isotopes seen by HIE ISOLDE 2015-2025 provided by OP (Simon, Alberto) to RP (Fabio)
- Meeting (SRF, RP, OP, TSO) held Mon 23/03. List of isotopes with long live daughters identified (Fabio). Data on duration, intensities and (estimated losses) being compiled (Miguel) (wk 14). Wk 15: estimation RP (Fabio) on what to expect in terms of contamination and activation of CM1 -> Philippe Bertreix HSE/RP transport aspects for the authorities.
Info tunnel roof opening & transport CM1 -> SM18:
- PR214 verification done. Confirmation that the PUMA modification on the overhead crane PR214 will not hamper the handling of CM1. We will proceed with the schedule as planned.
The modification/displacement of the PUMA drum and cupboard will be carried out after the CM1 handling and transport, as of Friday 24th April. Verification proposed change before with integration (ICL, Filippo Cappaletti, Vincent Barozier). Laser tables removal in week 18, after modification/removal PUMA drum, etc. (29/30 April). - Week 16 (13-17 April):
Opening/closing Tunnel roof & CM1 handling in the hall - handling tools and vehicles (cherry picker, etc.), heavy use of the overhead crane
Wall Jura side to be clear of cupboards and toolboxes (access wall top side) by the 13th April -> VITO been informed (Magda, Mark, Nikolay): Action!
CM1 will be standing from 15 - ~23 April in the handling zone next to the yellow RP buffer zone: vibration and inclination sensors + wrapping for transport - Week 17 (20- 24 April):
Transport CM1 from ISOLDE 170 to SM18 - special transport (truck & trailer) arriving ~23/24 April (tbc). Heavy use of the overhead crane during handling in the 170 hall (CM1 onto pendulum/trailer).
SAS and handling zone to be empty (users will be informed). Parkingt to be empty (IBDRS project been informed) - RILIS planning kept in the loop (Carlotta Porzio), ISOLTRAP planning kept in the loop (Arthur Jaries)
Planning REX/HIE: 170 REX HIE planning | Document 3383102 (v.1)
Vacuum pumping / ventilation:
- For the investigation at EBIS to find an assumed leak its vacuum system will need to be restarted (Guillermo): Ventilation systems operational as of 27th April (bc) (requirement for the restart of the primary pumps)
Work in he 170 HT room:
- Julien Parra-Lopez: Replacement of the GPS and HRS target heating power supplies. New equipment has arrived. Presently in the hall (behind Miniball). Request for handling in week 16 of a few pallettes up to the HT room: Will be coordinated around the CM1 activities (roof opening/closing and CM1 handling in the hall).
Beamlines:
- RC6 EN/EL cabling work is finishing. Some issues with dust and plastic chips coming down around the IDS setup. Some AC cables routing need more tidy routig (telex to add).
HRS field control and measurement:
- Request from Marco Buzio TE/MSC to house a full 19" rack. Keep proposed position in 170 R-020 with cables through existing passage (if fits with Ar/N2 and AC tubes). Discussed at the ICL meeting (19/03).

Experiments related activities in the experimental hall 5m
- RP signs for radioactive sources on the different entrance doors.
Speakers: Hanne Heylen (CERN), Oscar Fjeld (CERN)- Coordination of co-activities
- e.g. effect cabling RC6 on IDS
- Upgrade of technical galleries, solutions are being studied, no further upgrade.
- Traka

Proposal
- Entrance door -> solution to host more hazard signs by Oscar?- Understand requirements where the panels need to be --> Hanne to contact Valérie

Experiments related activities in the experimental hall 5mSpeaker: Erwin Siesling (CERN)
ISOLTRAP:
- Platform replacement preparations: VITO laser tube (high section) and tall pillar removal to be organised. VITO has been informed (Mark, Magda, Nikolay) -> Action!
- Emergency wall cutting/carrotage: VIC scheduled for 15/04. Wall cutting/core drilling scheduled for week 18 (27-30 April) (Severin/contractor). Crane needs a lock-out during 3-4 days (after CM1 handling and in line with ISOLTRAP activities but RILIS activities to be checked)
- Attention: This is now clashing with the foreseen crane modification / RILIS laser tables removal: Suggestion - Dismount the PUMA equipment Friday 24th April and re-mount them in week 19 (4-8 May). The modification of the drum and electrical box and brackets will need time anyway during which the laser tables and ISOLTRAP wall cutting can take place in week 18 (27 - 30 April). - Preparations mezzanine side done: Ready for CE work apart from cable tray bracket and pipe holders on the ISOLTRAP side - Action.
- This weeks ISOLTRAP filling in coordination with the ISCOOL green cage dismounting.
- ISOLTRAP platform replacement work: 18th June scaffolding - first platform part to finish ~22 July.
WISARD:
- planning to come 15 - 19 June to mount the setup for off line data taking
- week 27 (29 June) to cooldown the magnet
- taking data wk27-29 until July 19
- Verification: clash with ISOLTRAP work? No crane need.
Beamlines:- Clarification on defined escape routes under the beamlines ongoing (in the frame of the new pillars for the new RILIS barrack). (Kati, Andreas Herty DSO/BE, Letizia Di Giulio DSO/EP, et all.)
- Reminder of compressed air issue at GHM (hissing sound - mail Laura 20/3)
- Can the compressed air be stopped at GHM and kept at GLM - Guillermo will replace the valve at a convenient moment (after ventilation is back / pumping can be started)
- VITO is preparing move of magnet to 275, timing will be adapted taking into account other hall activities - as of week 19?
- VITO move of equipment
- Clarify duration and extend - during week 16 (13 - 17 April) the Jura wall side of the HIE tunnel up up until the crossing cable tray needs to be clear for handling (nacelle) in the frame of the CM1 dismounting from the tunnel.
- ISOLTRAP platform
- Wall cutting emergency exit - wk 18
- Proposal to meet next week to check general status of the hall and see what needs removal before cryomodule - 1 April 16h30
