News +++++ LCG external s/w ============= new s/w installations (for all LCG platforms including osx104_ia32_gcc401) ----------------------- - gccxml 0.7.0_20070615 This version of gccxml supports gcc 4.1. It is also built without the source patches from LCG, and done from a regular cvs checkout from gccxml CVS. The date to the version number is a little patch of the configuration to have control on the exact checkout day (gccxml does not do releases anymore), but not absolutely necessary. The necessary changes for genreflex in ROOT have been done and will be committed after the ROOT 5.16 release to the repository - cmake 2.4.6 Needed for the built of the new gccxml version - boost 1.34.0 The latest boost version installation for a preview. In the LCG configuration we are still using 1.33.1 for the time being. This version was built for all platforms on for the shared/multi-threaded/non-debug libraries. This ends up in a space allocation per platform of around 60 MB (instead of 500 MB). - qt 4.3.0 The latest qt version available - again built only in the minimal configuration, using around 60 MB space. - frontier_client 2.7.3 This version of frontier supports osx104. Problems with new frontier_client were reported from Andrea Valasssi for link errors on osx104 - mysql 5.0.18 A rebuilt for osx104_ppc_gcc401 was done, the shared libs were not created originally. requested installations ----------------------------- - pyQt for qt 4.x (LHCb) - kcachegrind 0.4.6 (Atlas) - fluka 2006.3b (Alice) - frontier_client 2.7.4 (fixes a problem with the configuration) - sqlite (POOL) Platform issues ============ osx104_ppc_gcc401 ---------------------------- - problem with import ROOT, reported by Andrea, ROOT bug fix filed Nightlies ------------ - new slot for gcc4.1 - request for building slc4_amd64_gcc34 in addition to ia32 - checking needed, several projects show a big increase of warnings, POOL and GAUDI have build errors. Round table ++++++++++ POOL ===== COOL - request from ATLAS for performance improvements basically ready. Needs changes in CORAL API. This should go into the upcoming configuration. osx104_ppc_gcc401 problem with import ROOT, reported by Andrea, ROOT bug fix filed in Savannah, solution is still pending LHCb ===== Tags in LCGCMT. Currently also the internal guessing of CMT about the current platform is taken into account to derive further tags. e.g. tag slc45 slc4 The idea is to derive the CMT platform tags only from CMTCONFIG and all internally guessed tags are removed. This will also go into the upcoming LCG configuration. The oracle tar ball for win32 was not distributed so far, done now. The question came up if it conflicts with a local installation on windows, Hubert will test this and report problems if any.
