We are pleased to announce the 2027 edition of the workshop on the Intersection of nuclear structure and high-energy nuclear collisions. The workshop aims to foster and deepen connections between the fields of high-energy heavy-ion collisions and low-energy nuclear structure, and discuss physics opportunities recently opened up at this rapidly evolving interface.
The event is organized as a satellite meeting of the Quark Matter 2027 conference (the biggest in the field of heavy-ion collisions, https://indico.cern.ch/event/1622375/). It will take place at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) in Daejeon (Korea) from March 29 - April 1, 2027. Participation in the workshop includes a tour of the RAON Accelerator Facility at IBS.
Scientific topics include:
- Formal aspects connecting low-energy structure to collider observables.
- Effective field theories of low- and high-energy QCD.
- State-of-the-art nuclear-theory methods for simulating nuclear collisions.
- Bayesian analysis and machine learning in nuclear physics across energy scales.
- Future opportunities at major facilities worldwide — LHC, FAIR, NICA, HIAF, RAON, and RIBF.
By interfacing the nuclear-structure community directly with the Quark Matter community, the meeting aims to foster mutual understanding and initiate new collaborations and research programs.
