We are pleased to announce the 17th Workshop on Breakdown Science and High Gradient Technology, HG2027, to be held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, from January 24-29, 2027.

The HG workshop series is dedicated to the discovery and advancement of high gradient science and technologies for advanced beam applications and fundamental research.

As high gradient technologies were born out of the demand for a compact collider the two fields have naturally developed together. With high gradient technologies maturing demand for their application has grown beyond the field  finding applications in wider research, medical and industrial domains.

Understanding and development of the fundamental science governing the behaviour of high gradient technologies has been vital to their development. The involvement of materials science has been critical in these developments, advancing the study of breakdown mechanisms and driving the analysis on the micro-scale.

Through strong global collaborations, as a community we have produced accelerators that reliably operate at high gradients with low breakdown rates and we continue to push this frontier. HG`27 provides an opportunity for our community to come together and discuss our current and future goals.
