Some general news:

  • From Z to ttbar a factor 70 stronger sextupoles could be needed, effecting multipole components.
  • P. Raimondi has presented a new scheme, which could improve tunability.
  • Failures of correctors should be studied also to define needs of PCs. --> J. Wenninger suggests per mille.
  • Current working assumption of BPM and correctors in the FF circulated for confirmation.
  • Alignment team is working on long-range misalingments

K. Andre presents studies of tapering. In the most pessimistic case with tapering only with correctors, their strengths could increase by a factor ~3.

Regarding multipoles, a4 at ttbar is low, but could pose problems at Z which should be studied. b1 is not yet implemented.

Exploring different working points, K. Andre finds different working points could improve final emittances. P. Raimondi suggests iterating further X. Buffat, using emittance values from K. Andre as starting point.

W. Van Goethem presents on a3 corrections without beam-beam. In total he assumes 14 skew sextupoles per IR side per IR. Tolerances at the IP (defined by V. Gawas) could be restored for 10 seeds. MA is not fully restored. It is aimed to improve this is a4 corrections. Some are as strong as the normal sextupoles. P. Raimondi suggests using the missing sextupole for skew sextupoles in the arcs.

C. Goffing presents first thoughts on commissioning simulations. Maximum misalingment of BPM wrt quadrupole should be clarified.

K. Skoufaris and A. Hussain present on a4 sensitivity. This value stems from skew quadrupole in sextupoles. MA reduction is visible, at 400/600 units for SF/SD about 3 to 6 %. P. Raimondi suggests studying combining skew quadrupole corrector with orbit corrector package.

T. Benilan presents on optics measurements with AC dipoles.

To Do:

  • Sign switch of multipoles summary
  • Simulate failure of correctors and BPMs
  • Larger roll error of BPMs up to 1mrad
  • Repository for tuning result seeds
  • Max BPM to quadrupole alignment
