XI Academic Week of Physics – UFSJ
The XI Academic Week of Physics is an event organized by the Physics Program Coordination at the Federal University of São João del Rei (UFSJ), Brazil. The 2026 edition, entitled “From Classical Physics to Artificial Intelligence: how Physics has revolutionized humanity”, will take place from September 14 to 18 at the Dom Bosco Campus in São João del-Rei, Minas Gerais.
The event brings together undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, teachers, alumni, and the wider community through lectures, short courses, workshops, scientific outreach activities, and cultural events. Its program explores the development of Physics from fundamental theories to contemporary research and technologies, highlighting the role of scientific curiosity, experimentation, critical thinking, and the dialogue between Physics and other fields of knowledge.
The virtual visit to the CMS experiment at CERN is one of the highlights of the 2026 program, offering participants the opportunity to learn about the Large Hadron Collider, the CMS detector, current research in particle physics, and the international scientific collaboration behind one of the world's major experiments in fundamental physics.
The visit is scheduled to 17. September 2026 9:00-10:00 (BRT) / 14:00-15:00 (CEST)
