NA61/SHINE
Update on problems with VERTEX-1 magnet cooling: NA61/SHINE had a meeting with the experts from Cryo lab last week. The exact source of the failure is not yet known. Most prominent seems to be a loss of vacuum insulation in the cryostat. Cryostat was opened but it is hard to make diagnosis inside due to insufficient space. Cryo was going to meet with an external company for consultation. We will get a report from their meeting and decide how to proceed. Regardless of that, the Cryo group promises to fix that leak during LS3 however due to the personnel being busy with activities related to the Long Shutdown, they cannot promise it will be fixed by 2028.
