The submission period is open until the submission deadline.
Dear participants of the CSC schools in 2025 and 2026,
The Inverted CERN School of Computing is a week-long school, organised on 15-19 March 2027 at CERN, and online, where the classes are prepared and given by former CSC students (=you!).
If you are interested in giving one or more hours of lectures (or lectures and hands-on exercises) at the Inverted CSC 2027, please prepare and submit a proposal by Sunday 29th of November 2026, 23:59.
You are invited to submit proposals even if you are not based at CERN. If you are accepted as a lecturer, you will either give the class remotely, or physically at CERN, (details are to be decided based on your availabilities). NB: if you want, you may co-author a series of lectures or exercises with another colleague. Should you be invited to give a lecture, your travel and stay at CERN will be covered by the CSC.
After the submission deadline (Nov 29th), the CSC Programme Committee will review all proposals, and will make the selection - you can expect to hear back from us by mid-December. Depending on the number of submissions, we might not be able to accept all proposals. Submitting a clear, good quality proposal with a defined academic relevance increases your chances of being invited to lecture at the Inverted CSC 2027.
Important notes:
To get a better feeling of possible iCSC topics, please check the classes at the previous schools (https://indico.cern.ch/category/2987/).
As all CSC schools, the Inverted CSC is not a conference where lecturers present their projects and achievements, nor a training session to teach a particular technology. We seek academic lectures on topics related to scientific computing, relevant for particle physics but also other domains that you are knowledgeable about, and that you would like to share your vision and a passion for.
The default class length is one or two hours of lectures. If you have a lot of material to cover, and/or past experience in teaching the given topic, you may (exceptionally) propose additional hours of lectures. On the other hand, we welcome and recommend proposals for additional hands-on exercises to complement your lecture(s).
If you have any questions, in particular concerning your possible class (e.g. does it fit the Inverted CSC, how many hours etc.), please don't hesitate to contact: Alberto.Pace@cern.ch .
