Directions

From Mile End Station

Serviced by the Central Line, Hammersmith & City and the District Line The university is about an eight minute walk from Mile End tube station. As you come out of the station turn left to west head along Mile End road. Keep along Mile End road and pass under a yellow bridge and continue till you get to pedestrian lights just after the canal bridge. Cross to the other side of the road and continue walking west along Mile End road until you see a single storey domed building, St Benet's chapel. Turn right through the pedestrian gate and you will be on campus at about building #39 on the campus map.

From Stepney Green Station

Serviced by the Hammersmith & City and the District Line The university is about an eight minute walk from Stepney tube station. As you come out of the station turn left to head east along Mile End road. Keep along Mile End road and the university will be on your left hand side. Turn left through the gate and you will be on campus at about building #32 on the campus map.

Meeting Rooms
  • Registration, exhibition, coffee/tea breaks the STFC Town Hall, plenaries and most parallel sessions are in the Francis Bancroft building (#26 on the campus map)
  • Registration is in Room 113. Head up the stairs in front of you as you enter the building and it is on your left, on the first floor. This is also where the coffee and tea will be served alongside the exhibition stands
  • PLENARY SESSIONS: These are in the Mason Lecture Theatre.  Exit Room 113, to the left hand side of the main staircase you will see the back enterance to the Mason Lecture Theatre.  There are also entrances on the ground floor should you wish to use them.
  • PARALLEL SESSION 1: This is held in in the G. O. Jones Lecture Theatre: This is in the  G. O. Jones Building (#25 on the campus map).  The LT is on the upper Ground floor, as you come in the main entrance it will be on your right (approx 5min from the other rooms used for the conference).
  • PARALLEL SESSION 2: This is held in the Mason Lecture Theatre (this is the room used for plenary sessions -- see above)
  • PARALLEL SESSION 3: This is held in the David Sizer Lecture Theatre.  You will see this on the ground floor of the Francis Bancroft Building.  As you enter the building, turn left and the David Sizer room is the first on your left hand side.  There are also rooms that take you directly into this Lecture Theatre from the Library quad.
  • PARALLEL SESSION 4: This is held in room 240 of the Francis Bancroft Building.  Walk up to the second floor, turn right and pass through the double doors.  If you want to enter the front of the room, turn left, then right and follow the corridor round.  If you prefer to enter through the back of the room, continue straight ahead after passing double doors, and follow corridor through firedoors round to the right.  This room will be well signposted as it can be difficult to find.
  • The Drinks reception will be on the first floor of the Queens Building in the Senior Common Room (#16 on the campus map)
  • Working space: available on request in the G. O. Jones (Physics) Building - please see the organisers for details, and booking a room.
  • Power for charging portable devices is available in the Francis Bancroft Room 113. Please be considerate to others, if you require somewhere to attend a phone meeting please ask at the registration desk.

Internet access
  • Eduroam users. Attendees with access to Eduroam should be able to use the campus wide Eduroam network
  • Local wireless internet. If you do not have an Eduroam account please contact the registration desk for a username and password for the Queen Mary Local wireless internet.
Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will be in the Ecology Pavilion in Mile End Park.  A map with directions to this venue has been uploaded to the timetabled session for the conference dinner.
