Description
Among the physical observables in the CKM mechanism of weak quark couplings, the phase gamma is one of the most poorly constrained. Its importance is derived from the fact that it can be measured using only tree diagrams, thus making it an excellent standard candle to which loop processes can be compared. In this seminar I will describe the progress and prospects of LHCb in the measurement of gamma. This will focus on the recently-achieved milestone in this work, observation of direct CP violation in B+- to D K+- decays.
