Description
The PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at
Brookhaven National Laboratory has been upgraded by installing a
Silicon Vertex Tracker (VTX). The VTX has been developed for heavy flavor (charm and bottom) measurements and dedicated to precise tracking of primary and secondary vertices. Resolution of primary vertex reconstruction and distance of closet approach (DCA) to distinguish secondary particles from
in-flight decays are required several ten microns. In this way, we will be able to statistically separate the heavy-quark production of charm and beauty.
In this poster, we will discuss the tracking performance of
VTX: resolution of primary vertex and DCA measurements. Performance of
alignment and tracking efficiency will be also presented.
