XI LISHEP - Workshop on High Energy Physics in the near Future
Rio de Janeiro, March 17th to 24th, 2013
We will try to summarize all information given in the first and second bulletin and give new information about LISHEP.

SESSION A – Science in High School. This session is dedicated to High School Teachers.
SESSION B – Advanced School in HEP. This is a traditional School on High Energy Physics.
SESSION C – Workshop in HEP. This is a Workshop on High Energy Physics with specific selected topics.
SESSION D – HEP Associated Technologies. This is a Workshop on Associated Technologies in HEP.

REGISTRATION & FEES
As was advertise in our webpage the Registration to participate on LISHEP was closed in March 1rst. 2013. The Fees will be paid on the Desktop in front of the Auditorium 11 on the first floor of UERJ main building. This methodology avoid complications with money change and Banks. To avoid misinterpretation we would like to clarify that the Fees have multipurpose application. The Finantial Support Agencies do not allow to spend the provided funds with Coffee Break, Cocktails, Workshop Dinner, many services that help us to do the Workshop. The no payment of Fees do not prohibit anyone to participate of LISHEP. But if you want to participate of all activities you have to pay at least Workshop Dinner and some expenses that will be informed in the Desktop of the Registration. Thank you for understand our explanation.
DATES AND VENUE
LISHEP will be held from March 17 till 24 at UERJ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rio de Janeiro receives many meetings and welcomes millions visitors every year. During the day the minimum temperature will be about 20 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature will be around 35 degrees Celsius (temperature may drop during the night so a light jacket may be necessary). Rio de Janeiro is a major tourist and business destination with many attractions and cultural events.

ARRIVAL - FROM AIRPORT TO YOUR HOTEL
From the Airport to your hotel - We strongly advise you to take a special taxi, blue or red, from COOTRAMO or COOPTAXI, which you can book in advance from their webpage, or you can book and pay it at a desk in the airport. Yellow taxis are cheaper but you will have better and safer services with the special taxi mentioned above.
Please inform beforehand the Secretariat of the date and time of your arrival, airline, flight number and departure city.
ACCOMODATION
We Just give in our webpage 3 Hotels of a good quality and not too expensive. But if you look on internet you have a few Hostels not expensive which could be a good option. Hotels in Rio de Janeiro in the present are very expensive even the government have claim to them that they are doing a not acceptable price. We give also the address of CAFFARENA TURISMO to help you in this topic if you want. LISHEP organization do not do this. The Hotels suggested in our webpage are:

Due to the high hotel occupancy rates in Rio you are strongly encouraged not to wait for the last minute to get your reservation. LISHEP website offers a map showing UERJ location. You have also many hostel that you certainly found in the internet
MEALS
There are many restaurants around UERJ serving food of different styles and at different prices. Many restaurants work by the weight system where you are charged based on the amount (measured in grams) of food you get from a buffet. Many operate as a flat fee buffet and others have a menu service. A meal may go from less than R$20.00 in simple restaurants to around R$ 50.00 in more elaborated places. Good meals can be found in the R$ 15.00 to R$ 20.00 range. In all cases add extra for drinks. Many restaurants add a 10% service fee. Otherwise a customary 10% may voluntarily be paid to the server. (Not inside of the UERJ student restaurants).

CONFERENCE DINNER
There will be a dinner starting 7:30 PM Friday the 22th . All participant that paid the fees will have a free invitation to go to the Dinner. IT IS INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRATION FEE. Check the time table where this is announced for address. Please register for this Activity up to the end of the first day 18 March.
VISA
Check with the closest Brazilian embassy or consulate about entry requirements. Depending on the country issueing your passport you may be required to carry a valid visa. We can provide an invitation letter in case you need one.
REACHING RIO DE JANEIRO
Rio de Janeiro international airport connects Rio to several domestic and international cities. There are special cabs and busses serving the airport. Look for the selling booths just after the customs area. A special cab ride from the international airport to Copacabana shall cost about R$ 100,00. The yellow taxis is cheaper but I prefer to advise you to take a Blue or Red Taxis.
TRANSPORTATION IN RIO
Rio de Janeiro has a vast, diversified and unexpensive transportation network operating with buses, subway, trains and taxis. A cab from most hotels to the conference venue shall cost around R$ 30.00 and can be comfortably shared by two or three passengers. We strongly recommend all participants to use taxis while in Rio. See others information in this link.

There will be a tour on Saturday the March 23, 2013. We Will give more information during the workshop
ELECTRIC POWER
Electric power in Rio is mostly 110 Volts/ 60 Hz A.C. but some hotels may provide 220 Volts outlets. You may need an adaptor since hotels may have only the Brazilian standard outlet. Check this with your hotel prior to arrival.
HEALTH
Check with your health insurance if you have coverage while in Brazil. You may consider buying health coverage prior to your arrival in Rio since the conference does not provide any special health care. Do not hesitate in contact us and we will give information about the proceedures to get help even if it is a simple thing.
