Description
We investigate numerically the phase structure of the Twisted Eguchi-Kawai (TEK) model in four dimensions. In numerical simulations of the TEK model at zero temperature and large enough SU(N) gauge groups, we identify new phases at intermediate lattice couplings where the Z_N^4 symmetry of the model is spontaneously broken. This effect can be explained by the contribution of diagonal configurations with collapsed eigenvalues, which are particular cases of non-surviving fluxons in the terminology of van Baal. We also investigate TEK models at finite temperature using anisotropic lattice couplings, where in particular we find surviving k=1 fluxons contributing at large anisotropies.
