ICAN has, over the course of its 18 month programme, engaged in design studies for a practical laser source for high repetition rate laser wake field accelerators. The final conference at CERN on June 27/28th, 2013 will present the results of these design studies, and show that laser sources based on highly-multiplexed optical fibres can provide the high peak power, high average power, and efficiency necessary for practical laser-based accelerators. Speakers will include
- Prof Gérard Mourou, head of the ICAN consortium, and Director of IZEST
- Prof Toshiki Tajima, Deputy Director of IZEST and inventor of laser electron acceleration
- Prof Sir David Payne, Director of the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton
- Prof. Dr. Jens Limpert, Head of Fibre and Waveguide Lasers at the Institute of Applied Physics, Friedrich-Schiller University, Jena
