Hungarian funding agency rated proposal high but unfortunately did not award the grant.
Resubmission might be possible, earlist in autumn, no data has been set.
This allows the continuation of the man power (Gyorgy, Andras, Erwin, one more person) but no longer stay financed by Wigner at CERN is possible. Short term visits are possible or long term visits with external funding is possible.
At Wigner only conceptual design and defining of specifications, participation to working groups and research is possible. Tividar (I guess as CERNtec) as coordinator involved in RCU2.
Hardware work such as schematic, layout, production can only be done outside Wigner institute and often was done at CERNtec.
Gyorgy and Alex made the comment that it is important to have the intellectual design work, which includes schematic, component qulification (radiation), testing and software design in a qualified institute and should not be outsourced.
Alex introduced the Indian groups as colloborators interested in design, development and production. A common meeting will be organized.
Tivador welcomed the idea that FPGA firmware, rad test, production, participation in design work is done by Indian groups. He advised to find long term collaborators for FPGA firmware development.
CERNtec has large experience in schematic & layout design for rad hard designs.
The question on long term involvment during operation for firmware upgrade, software maintenance and hardware maintenance has been discussed but no clear vision can be presented at the moment.
Gergely hopes that Wigner can take care of the radtest. A meeting with ATOMKI is planned to find out soon.
In order to define the project, specifications and build the collaboration with India it was decided to work out a:
Block diagram allowing to define responsabilities, interfaces to detectors, trigger and DAQ
Organigramm to define the responsabilites and man power
Schedule (project and maintenance)
A technical meeting is scheduled for the week of May 6.
(New info: A meeting with the Indians is scheduled for the week of May 21.)
