We study the impact of the presence of a hyperon core on the R-M relation for neutron stars (NS). Using observational constraint Mmax>2Msun, and available EOSs, we show difference between R-M relation in the mass range 1.2 - 1.6 Msun between NS with nucleon cores and those based on EOS that allow for sizable hyperon cores in high mass NS. We find correlation between pressure at...

A physical understanding of the behaviour of cold ultra-dense matter - at and above nuclear density - can only be achieved by the study of neutron stars, and the thermal emission from quiescent low-mass X-ray binaries inside globular clusters have proven very useful for that purpose. The recent 1.97±0.04 Msun measurement for the radio pulsar PSR 1614-2230 suggests that strange quark matter and...

The possible existence of two families of compact stars, neutron stars and quark stars, naturally leads to a scenario in which a conversion process between the two stellar objects occurs with a consequent release of energy of the order of 10^53 erg. We discuss recent hydrodynamical simulations of the burning process and neutrino diffusion simulations of cooling of a newly formed strange star....
