Description
Measurements of the decay rate $D_s^+\to \ell^+\nu$, where $\ell$ is a muon or tau, disagree with the
standard model prediction at the level of 3.8$\sigma$. I discuss how robust the theoretical prediction is,
examining radiative corrections briefly and lattice-QCD calculations in more detail. Then I consider how
nonstandard particles - such as W bosons, charged Higgs bosons, and leptoquarks - could explain the
discrepancy.
