Description
Ale de la Puente is an artist and industrial designer from Mexico with MA in Naval Construction. She was the runner up to Bill Fontana in the Prix Ars Electronica Collide@CERN award. As her runner's up prize she is visiting CERN this week, and will talk about her work which often deals with notions of time, memory and space by combining conceptualism with multimedia.

Ale de la Puente is no stranger to science. She has been actively working and
collaborating with scientists from the National Institute of Astronomy in Mexico where she is developing new work and recently she cooked up an artistic recreation of the history of the universe with Mexico's leading chef, Enrique Olvera.

Ale's artistic statement  about her work  -

"Sometimes I seek to understand but do not come to an understanding, then doubt ignites the creative process. The search starts, where creation is a metaphor of doubt itself, the process to question everything, to expand my sight to include the inside and the outside, the micro and the macro, the “I” and the “you,” the time and space, ... everything in its context.

Sometimes metaphors emerge from dreams, intuition, emotions, experiences, research, as well as from a synthesis of these forces. Sometimes the creative process is simply an obsessive way of reminding myself that I am still alive."
