    Different radiative phenomena in the far infrared and terahertz ranges can occur in particle accelerators. Smith-Purcell radiation is emitted when a charged particle passes near a grating. It is being used by the ETALON group at LAL Orsay to determine longitudinal profiles of electron bunches on different Linacs (FACET at SLAC, SOLEIL).
