Lattice field theory beyond QCD

Starting from QCD, and changing the number of colours N, or the number of fermion flavours, one can find QCD--like theories that in fact behave very differently to QCD. In addition, in the large N limit these theories are conjectured to be volume--independent. I will describe some lattice simulations of SU(N) gauge theory at large N, with (and without) adjoint fermions.
