Atatürk airport is on the European side of Istanbul and closer to the hotels area. One can take a HAVATAŞ airport coach from Ataturk airport to Taksim square. Sabiha Gokcen airport is on the Asian side good for some low cost flights and there is also HAVATAŞ airport coach running from there to Taksim Square.
