Abstract: In recent years, there have been a growing number of ”Wikipedian in Residence” in libraries in Europe and North America. These initiatives between the Wikimedia communities and libraries has resulted in many successful collaborations between both communities. It has contributed to making library collections more visible and readily accessible though Wikipedia and has created a better understanding of Wikimedia projects and initiatives with staff of the library. For this LST, wikipedians from two national libraries will share their experience and views in working in national libraries. This is an opportunity to hear about two approaches in regards to the role, conditions and requirements of the cooperation between wikipedians and libraries. At the end of the talk, the audience should have a clear understanding of how to become a wikipedian or how to establish a programme in their library for a wikipedian. About the speakers: Ally Crockford is currently the wikipedian in residence based at the National Library of Scotland. Emmanuel Engelhart has been wikipedians in residence at the Swiss National Library since January 2014. The talk will be given in English.
