CERN is running out of IPv4 network addresses. Other opportunistic resources may at some point become available to WLCG on nodes or virtual machines that only have IPv6 addresses. WLCG needs to move towards all outward facing services being run on dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 systems to support IPv6-only clients.
This one-day workshop will present the recent work by the HEPiX IPv6 working group and the related WLCG task force on preparing for this transition and discuss future plans. We also aim to provide guidance on the configuration and management of systems and sites and allow time for discussion and questions.
This workshop is primarily aimed at WLCG Tier 1 and Tier 2 system administrators. Networking staff and site management will also be very welcome as is anyone else interested from the sites, experiments or WLCG operations teams.
