Big Data Analytics for Improving the CERN’s Large Hadron Collider Operations
The European Centre for Nuclear Research, CERN, is one of the world’s largest and most respected centers for scientific research. At CERN physics and engineers work towards the discovery of the fundamental structure of the universe. CERN operates the Large Hadron Collider, LHC, the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments. Operating the LCH is extremely challenging and any operational incident or damage need to be avoided. Therefore, the control infrastructures have to be able to analyze what is currently happening and predict potential risks. This presentation will explain how the operations are being improved by mean of Big Data and Analytics and the future directions being investigated.
