Description

There is much ongoing experimental and theoretical interest surrounding nuclei in the $A=70$ region of the nuclear chart. A definitive measurement of the reorientation matrix element of the first 2+ state in 70Se would provide information on the nature of shape coexistence in this nucleus. Preliminary results following the Coulomb excitation of a radioactive beam of 70Se at 2.94 MeV/u obtained from the REX-ISOLDE facility will be presented.
