LCG 54g
---
The configuration is released, the announcement for the release was sent this morning. More info at https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/SPI/LcgConfiguration54g
LCG 55
---
The release was being prepared over the w/e. SPI received a request for trying to upgrade the Boost version to 1.35 on Monday. We started trying
a rebuild of the stack on Tue. After fixing configuration issues we are now at the level of syntax errors because of header file changes in the new Boost. The first candidate for fixes is CORAL which currently has two syntax errors. LHCb is currently discussing whether the upgrade of Boost is needed. CMS is interested in the LCG/AA with the only difference of removing SEAL. The final decision about these will be taken in the AF this afternoon.
GCC 4.3.1
---
gcc 4.3.1 has been released in the contrib area
- two additional libraries gmp and mpfr are needed at runtime for this gcc version, which have been also installed in the contrib area
- setup.(c)sh scripts for the proper environment are available in the binary directories
Round Table
===
Atlas
---
- LCG 54g is used in their nightly builds since two nights. No problems reported so far.
- Problem with cmt pattern install_pythonmods in LCG_Policy which copies python scripts into the release area. This is a global policy being applied for all LCG/AA projects. In order to avoid the pattern to fire for ATLAS builds it will be made empty using the ATLAS cmt tag.
- Problem with Mac OSX Leopard. The machine dies during the builds. In LCG/AA we have seen a similar problem which was traced down to cmt calling "system_profiler" once per compilation unit. The problem (and a solution) was reported to the cmt developers.
CMS
---
- Is currently reparing a pre-release based on LCG 54f
- Trying for a new configuration based on LCG 54g and/or LCG 55 next week.
LHCb
---
- Currently discussing whether they can live without the Boost upgrade for LCG 55 and go with work arounds.
- A request for new nightlies slot with new latest cmt version was done. We maybe already found one issue with the "version.cmt" file which needs to be put into every cmt package in order to avoid cmt warnings. Emile reported that with some envrionment variable setting the "structure_policy" this can be maybe avoided.
Persistency
---
- Persistency projects are ready for LCG 55 (with Boost 1.34.1)
- Zsolt wil be looking into the CORAL compilation problems against the Boost 1.35 today.
- The CoralServer module is likely to appear soon in one of the upcoming Coral releases.
AoB
===
- Marco Cl brought up the idea on building the LCG/AA stack on a "cernvm" system in order to spot problems with duplicate installations of libraries when compiling e.g. currently on slc4 systems. The idea will be followed up, we might run a cernvm installation with the nightly builds.
