Dear colleagues,
this is an email is to announce the first “database performance seminar” which will take place this Friday June 6th afternoon in the IT amphitheatre as of 14h30.
The Oracle database system is increasingly used at CERN. With the start of the LHC accelerator, the experiments, more users, more activity is pushed to the database systems. The key to have good performance lies with the design of the application. This seminar gives indication to developers and database administrators about experience and work done recently on different technologies related to the Oracle database system.
The presentations are given by persons implied in the CERN openlab.
- From Oracle, Bjørn Engsig will present “Scalable Application Design” which is a technical presentation for applications designers based on his experience at Oracle in the “Real World Performance Team”.
- From CERN, Eva Dafonte Perez will present her experience of running Oracle Streams replication system which is used by LCG and the LHC experiments.
- From CERN, Eric Grancher will present experience and guidelines for RAC scalability for write intensive applications like logging applications.
So, we are very pleased to invite you for this “database performance seminar”,
Best regards,
on behalf of the speakers, Eric Grancher
