Description

In a recent experiment at the NICOLE on-line nuclear orientation facility, gamma decay anisotropy and nuclear magnetic resonance measurements were made on Hf isotopes. A HfF3 beam was used to implant separated Hf isotopes into a magnetized pure iron foil cooled to temperatures down to 15 millikelvin. NMR/ON resonance was observed in the 37/2- K-isomer of 177Hf and angular distributions measured for many gamma transitions in the decay of this isomer and the 25/2- isomer in 179Hf. Data analysis is in progress and preliminary results will be reported.
