Description
The bi-weekly meeting of the LHC librarians and LCG/AA projects
Attendees: Emil Obreshkov, Bertrand Bellenot, Andrea Valassi, Ana Maria Garcia, Stefan Roiser, Huber Degaudenzi News === LCG external software --- - a new version of ipython (0.8.4) has been installed in the external area - python 2.5 in principal contains support for sqlite binding. The installations for slc4/[ia32|amd64]_gcc34 have been redone with this support but put into a separate directory slc4/[ia32|amd64]_gcc34_sqlite in order to not disturb the current production versions. For future versions of python this support may be factorized out into a separate package in order not to drag a dependency of sqlite into the python package. opengrok --- - a test web page has been deployed at http://j2eeps.cern.ch/test-lcg-opengrok/ . It contains an example of Atlas source code from nightly builds and the project source code of the LCG 55a configuration. Please have a look and send feedback to the SPI team whether this is thought to be useful. Round table === Atlas --- - The Mac OSX Leopard installation contains a later Python version (2.5.2) than the one we are currently using in production in LCG/AA (2.5). The question was raised if we could move to this later version. To be also discussed/agreed within the AF. - Atlas is building release 14.20 on top 54g by the end of the week LHCb --- - Hubert reported a problem with the deployment of LHCb software on the Grid. In case of different locations of the software (shared/local) it would be beneficial if the needs multiple repositories for Grid Some remarks on the opengrok pages: - Clicking on a class type will not go directly to the definition page but first list all occurances of that type, so this involves one intermediate click inbetween. - It would be good if opengrok would also understanding python syntax. Stefan will investigate whether this is possible. Persistency --- - Andrea reported that the Boost team is currently preparing a new version 1.36. Currently we are using 1.34.1 in production and were trying to move to 1.35. 1.36 shall contain several bug fixes which were also found during the adoption of 1.35 so we could try to move directly to 1.36. To be also agreed within the AF. Aob === - Hubert expressed interest in a "weekly build" in addition to the nightly builds, to produce builds which take longer time, e.g. coverage, doxygen, valgrind for LHCb. The LCG nightly build system should be ready to support this.
