Present: Francisca, Jim, Frank, Alex, Clara, Olly, Fernando, Peter, Manuel, Piotr, Lennart and Wayne 9th June 2006 1) Access control in distributed systems Piotr made a presentation, which is attached to these minutes, describing the issue of synchronization of PVSS accounts across distributed systems as well as the use of central mechanisms for authentication and account handling. He then went on to make some proposals for a possible implementation. The discussion revolved around whether only PVSS features should be used or an external authentication coupled with external account management. It was agreed to implement the first strategy but not exclude the second, which could then be implemented later. Peter asked for the user privilege to be dependent on the machine he is accessing the system from as well as his role, i.e. that someone accessing the system via a standard TS should only have observer rights even if he would have expert rights in the control room. 2) A.o.B. Three topics were identified for future meetings: - Report on the status of Oracle testing, including a description of any assumption made on its usage - Possible integration of PVSS with the EMDB - Re-start strategy for PVSS managers
