Mini-school on 'experimental tools in particle physics' 1st part 26.03.2015 to 28.03.2015 2nd part 14.05.2015 to 16.05.2015 Organisers: S. Khalil, A. Mohamed, A. A. Abdelalim Place: room TBD and CFP computer lab. Timetable: https://indico.cern.ch/event/374188/ Speakers: S. Khalil, A. Mohamed, A. A. Abdelalim, A. Moursi, W. Abdallah, M. Ashry, A. Hammad, R. Mohammed, W. Esmail, A. Kassem. Description: The 'experimental tools in particle physics' mini school is a six-days program, divided into two parts three-days each. The mini-school is for freshly graduated and undergraduate students, that provides an accelerated learning opportunity for talented learners. The program emphasizes particle physicist skills and scientific background needed for physics analysis, as well as creative and original thinking, independence and initiative, and responsibility and team work. Successful applicants are self-motivated, reliable, curious, able to work co-operatively with others, and value thinking for its own sake. Abstract: The mini-school scientific program is sub-divided into two session per day. The first is a lectures session that will focus on: basic concepts, weak interactions, strong interactions, and experimental methods in collider physics. The second is a tutorial session which is an interactive session to put hands-on tools needed for event generation, detector simulation, and physics analysis.
