Description
The standard leptogenesis scenario to produce the baryon asymmetry lacks predictivity, because it depends on several unknown parameters at the seesaw scale. We will discuss a novel source of leptogenesis in SO(10) unification which, instead, depends directly on the low-energy neutrino parameters. This possibility is realized in SO(10) models with matter fields in 16 and 10 representations and a purely type II seesaw mechanism. The light neutrino masses and the CP asymmetry needed for leptogenesis are controlled by one and the same set of couplings. We will identify the region of parameters where leptogenesis is successful and discuss the phenomenological consequences.
