The inflaton is constructed as a collective mode of the conventional modes of QFT.An essential ingredient is the space-time discretization encoded in the causet construction of Sorkin which will be presented from the viewpoint of QFT.The inflaton, so viewed,accommodates naturally to several enigmatic problems of cosmology:condensation and its flucuations,a relatively low mass and the slow roll governed by a potential nevertheless constructed on the planckian scale.
