Description
- status reports and outstanding issues (expecially lxbatch and lxplus) - status about package list templates (Jan I and Matthias S.)

Present: Matthias Schroder, Jan Iven, Dan Dengate, Ricardo Silva, Ulrich Schwickerath,
Jan van Eldik, Veronique Lefebure (minutes)

Tour de table (actions in red)

  • Ricardo
    • nothing to report
  • Ulrich
    • 2 development machines are running slc5: 1 lxbatch 1 lxplus
    • using new template structure except for the hardware tpls. TimB. or Alex to provide them.
    • LSF in itself is OK: the machines are in the "lsftest" cluster
      But
    • no job submission is currently possible because of an AFS token check broken on slc5.
A fix will be deployed tomorrow morning by AFS support
      notes:
      • this will affect slc3 and slc4 as well
      • why is this on AFS and not locally deployed on the machines ?
    • there is still a problem with getting a token at login.
This was supposed to be fixed with the lates ncm-afsclt component deployed on slc5 machines.
To be checked if it has actually been reconfigured. Jan Iven and Uli will check after this meeting.
    • WN sw not yet available (sure ? in some minutes it was said to be available: to be checked)
    • waiting for a gssklog package for SLC5 (on LA, Arne ?)
    • monitoring: not looked at that yet
    • status of castor client ? Jan vE said that an slc5 version is ready and tested but needs to be uploaded on swrep.
    • VL: CMS said they will need to be able to run slc4/32bit executable on the slc5 resources,
      at least at the beginning.
This implies that we need the cern-compat** packages on slc5.
CMS will also ask for and slc5 lxbuild machine. Ricardo said that this
would be provided probably mid of october.
  • Matthias
    • Matthias is having problems with the scripts supposed to generate the package list templates.
We agree that we need them urgently to setup the lxplus machine and agreed that Matthias will provide them by the end of this week, even if manual edition is needed.
Matthias is in contact with Michel Jouvin who maintains these scripts available in the Quattor QWG but got no timescale concerning any new release of the scripts.
    • About L4C cdb: nothing to report.
    • To be clarified: earlier it was agreed that the package lists would be automatically created "out of the box" from the comps.xml files and store under /os/, while any cern-cc specific modification to the lists would be done in a wrapper around those tpls, and stored under /site/cern_cc/rpms. Matthias and Jan I had a discussion about that and need to agree.
  • Jan Iven
    • nothing to report
    • two components were updated to remove taint perl warnings. VL to check if the latest versions are indeed in production is slc5.
    • will be off from 8th till 19th of september but can be contacted in case of emergency
  • Jan van Eldik
    • nothing to report
    • pending on him is to provide a version of PrepareInstall that handles the new filesystem schema.
No timescale defined yet because of other activities.
  • Dan
    • nothing to report

some discussion about lxplus functionality. not minuted.
