Description
At nominal beam intensities, the loss of control of even a single RF
cavity will
require an immediate beam dump to avoid severe damage to RF
equipment. During LHC
beam commissioning, different beam structures and in particular
lower intensities
will be used. In this case it is possible that not all RF failures
require a beam
dump and that the beam may survive even if perturbed. Various RF
failure situations
and their consequences are analyzed and possible strategies are
suggested to ease
operation during the commissioning up to half the nominal beam
intensity.
