Formal Methods for Software Quality 30m
In this talk, I will overview the activity carried out in Trento in the area of Formal Methods. In particular, I will focus on the technology of Model Checking, that allows for the analysis of requirements and designs in early stages of the development process. Automatic verification tools based on such technology can check the consistency of requirements, or analyze the behaviours of a design and check the compliance with a given set of requirements. They are able, for instance, to pinpoint underspecifications, interactions between functionalities, deadlocks, race conditions, and unexpected behaviours. Formal verification techniques are extremely valuable in presence of complex distributed systems with interacting components, and have been successfully applied in the development of industrial controllers, commu

      Testbed 2

Establish the priorities, contents and timeline for testbed 2.

      • Review the draft of the new architecture document being prepared by the ATF.
      • Determine the list and order for integration of software modules to be included in release 2.
      • Establish timeline for releases from September through to the next EU review
(proposed date is early April 2003)

      Includes:
security - mainly authorisation. Is CAS viable for EDG? When and how will we integrate it? Can we agree on a common model of fine-grained access
control (eg a Grid ACL). This has been discussed in arch group but do we have a consensus and plan?

GLUE - when and how do we integrate this into mainstream EDG. The relevant people have probably been involved but does the whole project
understand the issues? Does it conflict with RGMA?

Software improvements and release schedule for testbed 2 30m
This presentation will propose the ordered list of software improvements to be introduced into the EDG software between release 1.2 and testbed 2. The goal of this session it to establish a plan and schedule for this work leading up to the testbed 2 release The goal is to reach agreement on the schedule taking into account the needs of the applications, availability of various groups (ITeam, testing group, Loose cannons etc.), resources (testbeds) and project deliverables. We must also determine how many release we want ot make between now and the next EU review (April 2003).
